BLONDI
Hello there! I’m Claudia, an illustration artist based in Munich, and you might know me better as BLONDI.
In my art, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and delight. Each piece is crafted with a mischievous charm, inviting viewers to discover hidden surprises upon closer inspection. My ultimate goal? To bring a smile to your face through my creations.

Im Interview
// Crucial question: Graffiti or street art?
Street art - in spirit. I don’t paint on walls, but I use upcycled materials like paper bags, which connect my work to everyday life. I create characters and narratives that feel like they belong out in the world, not just in galleries.
// What was your first work that you really celebrated?
One of my first oil paintings: Catch of the Day
// What percentage of your works were created illegally?
0 - but sometimes it feels like I'm smuggling joy into places it doesn't usually live ;-)
// What tools do you usually use for your art, and what do you love about it?
I use a mix of traditional and unconventional tools - from fine liners, copic markers, ink, and watercolor, to acrylics, oil paints, and upcycled materials like used paper bags. I also work digitally when it fits. What I love most is the freedom to combine these elements based on the story I want to tell. Every material has its own personality, and putting them together keeps the process alive, surprising, and fun. There's something deeply satisfying about giving discarded things a second life - and seeing people connect with that.
// What role does your mental health play in the creative process?
Drawing is how I stay balanced - especially in stressful times.
// If you were allowed to choose a spot for your art, what would you choose?
I’d love to exhibit in the 798 Art District in Beijing. It’s a space that blends contemporary expression with urban energy.

// What do you like to criticize with your art? What parts of the system do you disagree with?
I don’t criticize in a loud or obvious way. Instead, I use my art as an antidote - to bring joy, spark a smile, and offer a moment of lightness in a world that often feels heavy.
// How do you deal with low blows while working on a work?
I’ve learned to deal with those moments by practicing patience - and cutting myself some slack. Not every phase of a piece feels good, and that’s okay. Sometimes things get stuck, frustrating, or messy, but creativity isn’t a straight line.
// What three statements would you give to a newcomer?
I’d still call myself a newcomer - but here’s what I’ve learned so far:
-
Allow yourself to create without overthinking.
-
Ugly phases are not failures - they’re just steps.
-
Keep going. Even slow progress is progress.
